Life in Chung King Mansions

Chung King Mansions, located at the 36thNathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, have a large number of electronic device shops, restaurants, currency exchange shops, laundry stores and other service industries. Its five 17-story towers are home to a fixed population of around 5,000 who come primarily from India, Pakistan and Africa. Sukhmit, a 65-year-old man coming from India, has been living in Hong Kong for more than 20 years. He runs a vegetarian restaurant on the first floor of Chungking Mansions.

Preety, born in Hong Kong, just graduated from Nepal. Her Nepal Fancy Emporium was moved here four months ago from Mirador Mansion, next to Chung King Mansions. Preety said that the rent of HK$20,000 per month was far too expensive.
